How can we improve Zappiti?

Re-add the limit on Recent

Your new version of Video has the following "improvement":

- The “recent” module no longer returns a limited number of results.

Now everything you have ever added appears in Recent for the life of the product, which entirely defeats the purpose of having a Recent icon. If you want to see everything already you have an All option.

By not having a limitation here you make loading Recent take an incredibly long time (the reason I never use All in the first place).

I fail to understand why you have ruined this functionality and replicated the All functionality simply to see things based on when they are added rather than by title.

So, please set a limit on Recent, and make it a user-defined period of time like previous versions of ZMC so we can control exactly how much populates this icon. Because thousands of files over multiple years is not Recent.

So I was browsing Movies tonight and noticed I have a Sort option for Recent Additions from newest to oldest, or oldest to newest, and it shows ALL titles.

I was told this option wasn't available when I contacted Zappiti Support, which is why they made these changes to Recent and removed the option to limit it.

If the option is in fact there, why can't we then set a limit? Why was the limit removed to provide functionality that already exists elsewhere in a Sort menu?

If you want Recent as your Showcase, you can't use it because it takes far too long to load. It also takes much longer to load the Recent module when it has to pull 500 titles, regardless how many pages you view. It has to preload as many pages as there are so it responds quickly.

How does having a user defined limit (by number of titles or days since adding) hurt anyone who doesn't want this? They can just set null value 0 and have endless. But the thing is, they have that choice. Like we used to.

Why have a limit. If you don't want to scroll back through many pages then just don't do so. I find it very handy that when I've added a batch of thirty of so movies I can scroll back to see the latest ones I added rather than having to try to remember the latest I put on there. This was one of the best add ons to the last update.

A user selected limit is the ideal option, either by number of titles to max out or a date added cut-off. ZMC was date added and you can set the number of days, not sure if there was a max limit but I usually had 30-45 days.

Then rename it, it's no longer recent if you added it 2 years ago and thousands of titles ago, is it?

It's absurd to have this when you have hundreds of TV series and thousands of movies.

Definitely they should not do what you suggest. As all the titles are chronologically listed you might just want to go one or two pages back. Please do not add a limit!

Also worth noting, if you have Recent as your showcase module, it becomes unusable unless you like spending 5 minutes waiting for pages to load.
