[Synology] Compatibility with Synology DSM Version 7
Synology has just released a DSM (7.0) blocking root access to packages.
Mono and Zappiti Server are affected by the issue, knowing that Mono is not developed by Zappiti and is needed to run Zappiti Server.
Anyone upgrading to DSM 7.0 will no longer be able to use Zappiti Server on Synology.
Please find in the link below the procedure to install Zappiti Server on Docker (compatible with DSM7) :

As mentioned by 'SD': I have a Synology model which does not support Docker (in fact, the majority of models is not supported, only the top models).
What to do? I find it too expensive to buy a new model Synology.
@The_Zix: It could be. Not sure how it works. I checked the docker protocol. One entry says "Installed version is greater (or equal) than server image version. Nothing to do here."
However the latest version of the old Zappiti installation in the Synology package center already is 4.26.266. And the Zappiti version in the docker is 4.25.262. And 4.26.266 is also offered on the Zappiti Mini 4k HD player as the latest update package. Maybe there is a currently a difference regarding the versions. Or maybe 4.26.266 is just a beta release.
@Andreas thanks for the feedback this is great and very helpful.
@Wolfgang Krimmel, thank you for replying.
@Andreas, I saw in the notes it says "Once done, all upcoming updates will be automated.
You will only need to do this once." it could be that it would update automatically to newer versions?
@The_Zix Under DSM7 you need to enable NTLMv1 in order to make it work. You can find this setting in File Services > SMB > Advanced Settings
@Zappiti: Looking forward to a way for updating the Zappiti container.
I will for sure try this work around when I have the Zappitti Reference when it comes out. However it would be nice to have this solved without a work around.
Thank you to take this problem seriously and came with a solution!

@The_Zix I have SMB1 still enabled. If I remember correctly, I had to enable it to access my videos with the Zappiti player anyways.
@Zappiti, this is great! hats-off to you guys
1. Now you guys support a great many more models of Synology (and probably any NAS capable of running docker) plus the MONO dependency.
2. Documentation is very clear and well detailed
3. Was able to move to Zappiti docker in less than 10 minutes with migration
4. I have a DS1621+ with "DSM 6.2.4-25556 Update 2" worked liked a charm on it with SMB1 still enabled.
5. Here where i think we still have an issue, I disabled SMB1 and forced no less than SMB2. Zappiti could not connect to the folder. @Wolfgang Krimmel can you confirm if you put SMB2 it is working for you on DSM6? I am not sure how @Andreas got it to work on DSM7. I thought DSM 7 disables SMB1 @Andreas did you do anything special? I am still holding off moving to DSM7 due to this.
@Zappiti what is your view on this, with this new docker would disabling SMB1 on DSM6 work?
Any feedback is great feedback.
This only works for those who have those specific Synology models, I have a 64bit DS418J and it does not work. Will there be a solution for us or should I just throw my Zappiti in the garbage?
Dear, I've followed the procedure to install Zappiti Server on Docker but docker package (64bit) is not available on my synology DS415Play (32bit).
Could you find a solution to make Zappiti video to work on my synology ?
Wolfgang, this is working with DSM7. No issues so far. Thanks to the Zappiti team for this solution.

Thanks Andreas! I just installed Zappiti Server on Docker on my DS1621+ (DSM 6.2.4-25556 Update 2) following this guide and it seams to work well! That's exactly what I was looking for.
Did anyone test it on DSM7? I am actually looking into updating.
Same here, Update on DSM6 is not working anymore. However they published a guide (French only) to install Zappiti on docker in DSM7: https://zappiti.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1977855-installer-zappiti-server-avec-docker-nouvelle-pro
Would be good to have a English version and future-proof way (docker repository).

Update 4.26.266 Video do not load/update on Synology running DSM 6.2.4-25556 update 2, you are however able to remove and remove the pointer to Beta version and then Reinstall older version

please fix the issue with the current Zapitti server update on synology the update can't download on Synology NAS, at least make the SPK manual downloadable. lots of people can't use the software now.
I'm also still waiting for an update. Advised a few friends to update to Zappiti (I (myself) am good with it (Synology 1819+) for now, but many my friends got issues.... Some got new Synology NAS... not working ....... Some have not working software, SMB issues (SMB1 Disabled).... and so on...... So I definitely stop promoting this product to anyone I know.
All my friends went to Plex. (PS not MY kind of solution YET). But since Zapitti is not working for them, I understand them. I am on the verge to also convert.
To Zapitti develop team !!!! This is costing you customers !!!!!
The last update was from 2 months ago! How long do we have to wait to use your product?
As an integrator I have promoted Zappitti to both clients and colleagues all over the world. We have been in this situation now for over 10 months. I have clients who have effectively locked out of their library for months. I know you can downgrade but what you are left with is not great and if you also need some of the newer features you are screwed. We need regular updates on this or all the hard work promoting this great product will be for nothing.
When will it be available ?
Hey, any updates on this ?. Will Zappiti server work on DSM7 in the future. It seems that the only method for now is to downgrade back to dsm 6.2
The Samba Client should be SMB2 minimum, SMB1 has a security flaw and should not be used anymore
