Bring back the TVDB analysis
Since the only choice for TV shows was reduced to TMDB as the only source, many series are not found, episode are missing, incorrectly numbered or the language is missing - basically a nightmare.
My understanding is, that TVDB was removed because it now costs something.
Since the Zappiti players are more at the top price range of media players compared to competiters, it should be easily coverd.
The comment from another user to help build up TMDB is not valid.
If we now put our energy and time into building another DB up again, they may change the API and raise the cost as well, so that we may face the same problem again in the future
In addition: To my knowledge it is not possible to freeze entries in TMDB, so that once an entry is finalized, it can't be overwritten by someone who likes it in a different way.
In order to still guarantee free analyse of Tv shows, we have redeveloped our system in order to analyse Tv shows with TMDB who is still free.

I have 2 Zappiti players which I have owned for a few years. I have to say that since TMDB is now the source of TV and Movie identification, it has significantly made the Zappiti Media player software a lot less efficient. I recently transferred my TV programmes to a larger harddrive and when I replaced the drive there were 48 missing episodes that were there previously. I have contacted TMDB and their website is NOT user friendly and the same can be said for their Moderators. Some series are locked and cannot be edited. For example .. El Chapo Season 1 has 9 Episodes. The TMDB only lists 8. The missing episode cannot be added. I am not the only one to complain about this particular issue. There have been comments dating back to 2017, so no effort has been made by TMDB to resolve the issue. It's a shame as the Zappiti Media software is awesome and it is being ruined by TMDB. As a Zappiti user I would rather have the option to have the TVDB or IMDB as my source of meta data. I understand TMDB is free, but you get what you pay for, and when I paid for my Zappiti players they were the Rolls Royce of media players who have seemingly dropped their high standard due to TMDB.
Let us the choice like before….those wanted to use free TMDB would use it and those who want to pay an annual fee to use TVDB would pay once a year. You have done it for those who wanted to pay for the silver theme but it would be annual…thanks
I am very surprised of this lack of consideration for customer request…seems like you act like a very big company
Feedback from the dev team is there was a significant amount of work needed to switch to TMDB. Even at a cost, I don't think they have time or capacity to go back to TVDB.
I think there are many People out there including me who wants to use TheTVDB even if it costs now money. There is a way. Just let the customers decide if they want to pay for TheTVDB or not. So it should not be a big deal for the Developers of Zappiti to porgram the TheTVDB Plugin to be used with a PIN (Year Subscription). And everyone else who is not willing to pay extra money can use TMDB. Thank you!
I just added a number of series, new and additional seasons to existing ones, and only had trouble with 1 out of about 12. It didn't detect that the Animaniacs season was from the new 2020 reboot instead of the original and I had to fix that. Everything else added to existing series or created new ones fine.
Which shows specifically are having problems?
This is incredibly disappointing. I was wondering why recent TV series additions I had added weren't detecting properly. This is frustrating indeed. For what I paid for my Zappiti 4K HDR, I would hope whatever access fee is required for the TVDB would be covered. Maybe give Zappiti users the option to pay for access to TVDB and add the functionality to choose to the Zappiti?
Yes it is less precise than the TVDB, it is a nightmare. TMDB very good for movies but the ideal for series is truly TheTVDB, please bring it back or let us the choice beetween the 2
Splitting votes against two suggestions isn't going to get the idea any further along.
Yes it's a nightmare, but there is no other option. TMDB is what's being used now, it's not going to change from the discussions I've had, so register an account and start contributing to improve it.
