[Settings] Choose your Zappiti Server
The Zappiti server is the program that manages your collection and the files that depend on it.
The choice of server (cloud or local) decides where to save these files. It doesn't impact the location of your videos.
For example :
If you choose the cloud server :
The configuration files of the collection will be on the cloud but you can decide the location of your video files.
If you choose a local PC server :
The configuration files of the collection will be on the PC but you can decide the location of your video files.
Warning !
A collection is linked to a single server. Once the type of server chosen, you'll always have to connect to this server to consult your collection.

Zappiti Server Cloud
This is the simplest solution. All the covers and also the database are online on the Internet in the Zappiti servers. Only the identification codes and the covers are stored in the Cloud in backup (the covers are downloaded into the internal memory of the player at the first display). Your movies aren't sent to the Cloud.
- Advantage : Easy to use - does not require server installation.
- Advantage : Does not require a computer. The Zappiti player can be completely autonomous.
- Advantage : Your collection is accessible wherever you are if you have access to an internet connection.
- Advantage : Possibility to explore and edit its collections on several Zappiti media players but also from a tablet / smartphone (iOS or Android) or a computer (Mac / PC).
- Advantage : Possibility to explore and edit its collections on several Zappiti media players but also from a tablet / smartphone (iOS or Android) or a computer (Mac / PC).
- Disadvantage : you need a good Internet connection on the Zappiti drive for the first display of the covers (then the covers are cached and the display is instantaneous even after restarting the drive).
- Disadvantage :
Warning ! The player isn't able to analyze certain technical information of the files. If the technical information can n't be analyzed by the media player, it can still be retrieved from Zappiti Db (technical information provided by other users or from Zappiti PC / Mac and uploaded to the Community data).
- Advantage : Does not require a fast Internet connection. It also works even without internet connection (requires in this case a router apart from your Internet modem).
- Advantage : possibility to explore and edit its collections on several Zappiti media players but also from a tablet / smartphone (iOS uo Android) or a computer (not available anymore for MAC).
- Advantage : All technical information is retrieved via MediaInfo including ratio, frame rate, video resolution, main audio codec, maximum number of channels, video codec, video container, subtitles and languages.
- Disadvantage : you have to let the computer run when you want to use Zappiti Video on the Zappiti drive.
NAS :
Zappiti NAS
Zappiti Server PC
Your files used for the collection are saved only on your machine.
- Advantage : Does not require a fast Internet connection. It also works even without internet connection (requires in this case a router apart from your Internet modem).
- Advantage : possibility to explore and edit its collections on several Zappiti media players but also from a tablet / smartphone (iOS uo Android) or a computer (not available anymore for MAC).
- Advantage : All technical information is retrieved via MediaInfo including ratio, frame rate, video resolution, main audio codec, maximum number of channels, video codec, video container, subtitles and languages.
Warning ! Some technical infos can be proposed by default on ISO files.
- Disadvantage : you have to let the computer run when you want to use Zappiti Video on the Zappiti drive.
- Disadvantage : requires a computer with minimal power to operate smoothly.
NAS :
Zappiti NAS
The Zappiti NAS integrates Zappiti Server. Your files used for the collection are saved only on your machine.
- Advantage : Does not require any special installation. All configuration is automatic.
- Advantage : Extreme simplicity of use.
- Advantage : Does not require a fast Internet connection. It also works even without internet connection (requires in this case a router apart from your Internet modem).
- Advantage : possibility to explore and edit its collections on several Zappiti media players but also from a tablet / smartphone (iOS uo Android) or a computer (Mac / PC).
- Advantage : All technical information is retrieved via MediaInfo including ratio, frame rate, video resolution, main audio codec, maximum number of channels, video codec, video container, subtitles and languages.

Zappiti Server Synology
Your files used for the collection are saved only on your machine.
- Advantage : Does not require a fast Internet connection on the Zappiti drive. You can manage and edit everything from Zappiti 4K HDR / Zappiti Player 4K or from a PC or Mac computer.
- Advantage : you do not have to leave a computer running at all times.
- Advantage : possibility to explore and edit its collections on several Zappiti media players but also from a tablet / smartphone (iOS uo Android) or a computer (Mac / PC).
- Advantage : Synology Zappiti Server updates are automatic and transparent.
- Advantage : All technical information is retrieved via MediaInfo including ratio, frame rate, video resolution, main audio codec, maximum number of channels, video codec, video container, subtitles and languages .

- Disadvantage : requires a Synology NAS with minimal power to operate smoothly.

Zappiti Offline (Offline Mode)
This is an option similar to the export function of the V2.8. But rather than exporting to the Zappiti media player, the posters are directly downloaded to the player's internal memory from Zappiti Cloud or Zappiti Server.
- Advantage : Does not require computer or Internet connection.
- Advantage : Fast display of the movie covers even on the first navigation (on the other solutions, the first navigation is slower because it is at this time that the covers are downloaded into the internal memory).
- Disadvantage : Any modification possible. It is just the simple consultation of covers with launching films (like the export of the V2.8).
- Disadvantage : It's not possible to mark movies in Seen / Not seen.
- Disadvantage : All the dynamic functions requiring the Internet are not accessible (trailers, Live Bonus, subtitles download, search engine ...).
