[Audio] HDMI Audio Only : No sound in EAC3 / Dolby Digital Plus
The sound formats concerned are LPCM 5.1/7.1, Dolby Digital Plus (EAC3) and DTS-HD HRA. For these formats, if your amplifier is too old to accept HDMI 2.0, we invite you to use an optical fiber in addition to the second HDMI output and to switch to the optical fiber input on your amplifier each time you wish to play a movie with this type of sound format. Dolby Digital Plus (EAC3) is fully supported by fiber optics. DTS-HD HRA will be downgraded to classic DTS (Core sound). But this type of sound format is fortunately quite rare. In this case, you can use the Force SD Audio function to listen to audio tracks encoded in DTS-HD HRA.
Regarding the LPCM 5.1/7.1 format, it is only supported via the HDMI Main output. The audio processor dedicated to the HDMI Audio Only output does not support this format. On the other hand, the LPCM 5.1/7.1 has far too much speed to be compatible with the SPDIF connection. But it is possible in this case to downmix the sound in 2.0 (stereo) via the HDMI or SPDIF output setting. You can also convert the audio format of your file to Dolby Digital DTS using the freeware Handbrake.
